"So much more than just a 'daycare'"

Alicia has provided fulltime care for our daughter for the last year. During which time we saw her flourish in an environment that is so much more than just a “daycare”, it is a family home with safety, rules and boundaries meant to provide a positive structure for all. Alicia provides a caring, loving and nurturing home, always finding so many ways to create an environment where the kids are encouraged to socialize, share, cooperate and learn.

Her background in education was evident from day one and our daughter has learned such a phenomenal amount in her time there during such a critical time in her development (2-3yrs). We have since seen her accelerate in all aspects as she has moved on to Montessori school. We strongly feel that her time with Alicia was extremely beneficial to her learning a multitude of things from the alphabet to phonics, to socializing with peers and numbers. Her help and patience with things like potty training were a huge plus for us too! Through her education based activities our daughter not only found it a fun environment filled with creative, hands on activities but her vocabulary also exploded. The meals provided were carefully planned to be healthy and enjoyable.

She truly thrived in such a well balanced environment.

Alicia strives to ensure each child feels safe and comfortable in her home. Her ability to understand children and meet there ever changing needs with love, care, structure and discipline is amazing.

If you are considering leaving your child with a care provider, there is no one I would recommend more. She is an excellent teacher and an excellent Mom. We are so thankful to have found her. Our daughter loved her time with Alicia and looks forward to coming back for visits.

"A home away from home"

We have been thrilled with the care our son has received at Otter’s Couch Home Daycare!

Alicia is a born teacher – you can see her enthusiasm shine through in all aspects of the daycare. We have seen our son flourish in this wonderful environment, which is full of play based learning, arts and crafts, circle time, and free play time.

Alicia periodically sends home a package of all of his arts and crafts and we love seeing what he has created. She provides a safe environment with consistent rules that all children need. I never worry about my son’s happiness or safety while he is with Alicia, I know he is being looked after as if he is her own.

He receives healthy snacks and meals and a quiet environment for naps.

An added bonus at Otter’s Couch is Alicia’s husband Kevin, also a teacher. My son loves Kevin and we have observed that he too brings his love of children and education into the daycare as well.

I would recommend Otter’s Couch Home Daycare to anyone looking for a daycare that is a home away from home for their child.

"To say that she thrived while attending would be an understatement!"

Our child attended Otter’s Couch Daycare for one year, before she was school aged, and to say that she thrived while attending would be an understatement!

We saw our daughter improve academically and socially. From day one, Alicia emphasized important routines while always ensuring that the kids had fun. Trips to the apple orchard, themed days, and crafts celebrating all the holidays as well as the Letter of the Week were just a few of the above and beyond programming aspects that our daughter was exposed to and loved.

We loved the weekly Facebook glimpses into our daughter’s days at Otter’s Couch.

We are so thankful for all that Alicia has done for our daughter. The choice of choosing her for our daughter’s care was definitely one we are glad we made.

"Otter’s Couch is the place to be!"

We can’t find enough good things to say about Otter’s Couch Home Daycare!

My husband and I were in search of a daycare that felt like a home with a care giver that cared for our daughter like she was her own. Well, we found her! The minute we met Alicia, we knew she was who we wanted caring for our daughter.

Alicia is amazing! We were so impressed with how organized she was, how she had a healthy meal plan and how the children were always in engaged in learning activities and crafts. The setup of her daycare was also important to us. It’s not in a dark basement, it’s in the centre of her home on the main floor! We loved that our daughter went outside everyday, twice a day, even in the winter unless it was below -15. Kids need a routine and Alicia has it down perfect!

We are very sad to be leaving Otter’s Couch Home Daycare. If we hadn’t moved, our daughter would still be going there. I really don’t think we will ever find a care giver that even compares to Alicia’s greatness!

Without any hesitation, we most definitely would recommend anyone to send their child to Otter’s Couch. If you want your child to be engaged, learn new things, go outside, eat healthy, be treated with respect and love, Otter’s Couch is the place to be!
