Alicia Otter is a former teacher with the Limestone District School Board, with a Bachelor of Education Degree. On top of the five years she has been running Otter's Couch Home Daycare, she has over six years of in-class experience teaching children of all ages, from Kindergarten to grade 8. She has also spent a great deal of time working within the Full Day Kindergarten classrooms.

 

Additionally, Alicia has two years of experience working at Cook's School Daycare and Victoria Park Daycare, both located in Cobourg. During her time working in daycare, she worked with children ages 12 months to 12 years. She was responsible for running the school-age program for one year during her period of employment.

 

Alicia has completed additional training which allows her to work with children with special needs. She has a clear vulnerable sector criminal record check, is Standard First Aid Level C + AED trained, and has successfully completed the Northumberland Food Handler's Course.

 

Alicia has attended many of the workshops and training sessions offered by Northumberland Child Development Centre, such as More than Child's Play, Ontario Early Learning Framework, Block Play, Guided and Planned Play, Opening the Door to Culture, Simply Speaking, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Self Regulation and Attunement.

 

Alicia is exceptionally organized, professional, and has a wonderful rapport with children. She enjoys the many aspects of running her own daycare as it allows her to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children from the comfort of her own home.
